Francois-Xavier Emery

Guest photographer for the Photographic Nights of Selma 2020

Born in Meknes, Morocco in 1955, lives and works in France in the Alpes de Haute Provence.

As a young photographer, he collaborated in 1978 with Salagon, a research center for rural ethnology. He then oriented his work on the country through portrait, gesture and landscape.

Becomes a freelance photographer in 1982. While responding to commissions, he likes to explore the relationship between man and his environment. He also practices a more intimate photography like side roads where he questions himself on the act of photographing.

From black and white to color, from studio shooting to reportage, he regularly presents his photographs in exhibitions, books and magazines.
