Hello dear member of the Artistic Committee of the Photographic Nights of Selma,
Here are some explanations on how the application management process!
Basic Principles
Each applicant who fills out a form will automatically have their own page where you can clearly see all the information they provided.
Application Status
A ranking system allows us to move application forward depending on our decisions. You’ll find this ranking system in the dedicated committee menu.
Pending (default status when an applicant first applies)
To Discuss: a transitional status. Application here will need a group discussion.
Accepted: applicants the committee agrees to invite to festival.
- Confirmed : Applicants are ok to come in Sema during the festival
- Rejected: applicants we decide not to select.
- Guests: Photographers invited by us
If you would like to invite photographers, please have them fill out the application form like the others. We will then categorize them as “guests.”
Each of us can update an application’s status directly from the list or from their individual page. However, the best practice is to vote before changing their status.
Rating an application
On each application’s individual page (accessible by clicking “View” in the last column of the listing), you’ll find a section at the bottom called “Committee Actions.”
This is where you can rate the application. To do so, simply click one of the icons: ❌ ⭐⭐⭐ ❤️ and save your vote.
❌ : You really don’t like it (the system records it as 1/5).
⭐ : First star = 2/5, second star = 3/5, third star = 4/5.
❤️ : A strong favorite (5/5).
That’s why it’s best to rate before changing the status.
Example: before moving a candidate to “Rejected,” give them a ❌ to record your choice.
Don’t worry though—nothing gets lost if you forget. And you can change your rating at any time. 😉
Application List
When you click on one of the status categories (e.g. “Pending”), you’ll see the full list of candidates in that category. Each row = 1 candidate, with the following columns:
Author’s portrait
The first image of their series (to help identify visually)
Their name
Title of their series
Current status (editable directly here)
Average rating + useful info (e.g. favorites from members) + number of committee members who voted
My rating: your personal score for this candidate
View: access to the candidate’s individual profile
There’s also a button at the top to filter applications you haven’t voted for yet. (Note: this only applies within the current category. For example, if you haven’t voted on some applications already marked “Rejected,” you’ll need to go into that category to find them.)
Final Notes
Of course, there are still a few small bugs… Please note them and let me know (nicolasklein@me.com)
