Biography:
Harrison Black is a photographer based in Montgomery, Alabama, whose work encompasses street, nature, industrial, architectural, travel, and event photography. His interest in photography began at an early age with an Exa IIb originally purchased by his father at Foto Radtke in Barnstorf, Germany—a camera he continues to own.
Today, Black photographs primarily with a Canon EOS R5, while still maintaining his EOS-1D Mark II N and EOS-1D Mark II as backup cameras. His favorite lens is a Canon EF 28–70mm f/2.8L, adapted for use with his current system.
Black approaches photography as an exercise in observation and discovery. His photographs often seek out details, perspectives, and fleeting moments that exist beyond the obvious subject. His travels throughout Europe and Central America have further developed this approach, particularly his desire to find fresh perspectives on well-known places.
Whether photographing a nonprofit event, a person on the street, an industrial structure, or a small element of the natural world, Black’s work is united by a simple pursuit: seeing something familiar in an unfamiliar way.

Gray
Gray is a photographic series exploring how beautiful light becomes as it dispels darkness. It calms and soothes us, lifts our spirits, and invites us to dream. I stand in the gray.
